Who are we?

NeuroFeedBackUp is a charity which was founded in 2007 to support Neurofeedback, a new and innovative but non-invasive therapy for disorders of the brain.

What is Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback consists simply of retraining inefficient pathways in the brain by means of electrodes placed appropriately on the scalp. These electrodes record brain wave activity and encourage the patient to regulate and improve the functioning of his or her own brain without any electrical current being passed into the brain.
The therapy is being used with encouraging results to treat numerous disorders, including emotional problems and specific learning difficulties, such as Dyspraxia (DCD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dyslexia and Autism. Neurofe edback is just as applicable for adults as children since all psychological and neurological problems have an underlying brainwave disregulation. The potential of the treatment is vast and research points to many more applications.

The aims of NeuroFeedBackUp are:

  • To promote Neurofeedback as a non-invasive therapy for the correction of brain damage.
  • To encourage research, training and education in the field.
  • To relieve the needs of Neurofeedback patients and their families through modest financial support towards the cost of treatment for those who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
  • To acquire and provide equipment on loan where possible and practicable.
